Should I take a gap year? How do I decide what to do during my gap year? Ideas on what to do during a gap year?
Hear from an accepted UBC Med Student on why taking a gap year was the right decision, and what she did during those two years.
Pros of a Gap Year
- You don’t need to rush taking the MCAT, and can instead use your undergrad summers to do research and travel, and relax from a busy school year.
- You can use your gap year to do things you didn’t have to do during undergrad such as travelling, doing non-med activities such as getting involved in that cause you didn’t have time for, running a business, having more time to read books, do your hobbies such as art, and relax before starting the long journey that is medicine
- You can do more extracurriculars and accumulate more achievements to boost your application.
